General Questions

Q.    What is the Chamber of Commerce?
A.     The Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit, 501(c)6 organization dedicated to helping grow commerce and support businesses in the Muskogee area.   Every business has different needs so we work to listen to our Members to know how we can help and have the most impact for their success.  Our annual operational plan includes five focus areas:  Business and Economic Development; Community and Professional Development; Government Relations; Marketing and Communications; and Tourism. GMACC currently has over 500 active members ranging from a one-person shop to manufacturing plants with 2,000+ employees.  We have an efficient, talented, and customer service oriented staff, and a strong and influential board of directors.

Q.     How is the Chamber funded?

A.     Every Chamber of Commerce in every town will look a little different, provide different services and programs, and probably funded differently as well.  In 2016, the GMACC received 21% of our operating funds from the our generous Legacy Members and sponsors of the events and programs we provide; 16% of our income was Chamber membership dues; and 63% of our income was from the City of Muskogee for Tourism and Convention services.   Learn more about how Tourism and Conventions are funded in Muskogee, OK by clicking here.

 

Q.     We are hosting an event; will the Chamber send an email about the event in their weekly blasts?
A.     The Chamber of Commerce and Tourism is happy to promote a community event in our weekly Fun Things to Do email that goes to over 2,500 people every Thursday morning.  You may also put it on the Muskogee Community Calendar by clicking here.  Our Monday Morning Memo is reserved for Chamber business and is distributed only to Chamber membership.  We do not send information about other organizations in that Monday email.

 

Q.     How do I find out if a business is a Chamber Member?

Q.     Do you have information that will help me start a business in Muskogee?

  Membership Questions

Q.    How much does membership to the Muskogee Chamber cost per year?
A.    Our membership rates vary based on the number of employees and the type of business you have.  We also have rates for individual members and small businesses.  For details on rates and how to join the Chamber, download a 2017 Membership Application

 

Q.    Why should I be a member of the Chamber of Commerce?

Q.     How do I update my company’s directory listing?
A.    You may login to your member account to update information, pay an invoice or view additional information exclusive to Chamber members.  Click here to go to the Member Login page.

 

Q.    If my employer is a member of the Chamber, does that make me a member?
A.    Yes!  If your employer has joined the Chamber they are providing all of their employees with access to, and benefits of, the Chamber.  The business is always listed as the member and you may need to contact the person who oversees Chamber of Commerce relations with your company to be able to access some information.  Individuals may also join the Chamber.  Click here for more information on  joining the Chamber.

 

Q.    How can my company be included in the Member Spotlight?
A.    Our Member Spotlight is chosen by random drawing every month.  All Chamber Members in good standing are eligible to be drawn.

 

Q.     How do I pay my annual Membership Dues online?
A.     Visit the Member Login page and login into your account to pay your dues.

 

Q.     How can my company sponsor a specific event or program hosted by the Chamber?
A.     We offer sponsorship opportunities for a wide variety of events, programs and activities.   Download our 2017 POP here.

 

Q.     Do I have to be a member of the Chamber to attend events and programs?
A.      Some of our events are exclusive to Chamber members; however the majority of events and meetings we host are open to anyone who wants to attend.  If there is a fee to attend the Member price is lower than the non-member price.  If there is a specific event or activity you’re interested in attending, please contact us for further information.

 

Q.     Can the Chamber provide me with a list of all the businesses in Muskogee?
A.     We do not keep a list of every business in Muskogee.  We do have a list of businesses that are our Chamber Members.  Member listings are provided free to the public by visiting the Membership Directory link on our web site.  Mailing labels for each business may be provided at a cost of $40, or $30 for Chamber Members.  We do not provide lists of contact information for our Members.


Visiting and Tourism

Q.    When is the best time to visit Muskogee to see the Azaleas at Honor Heights Park?
A.     Azaleas are incredibly fickle according to the weather and hard to predict.  Typically, the first and second week in April are ideal.  It is always best to the call the City of Muskogee’s Park and Recreation Department if the azaleas are an important part of your visit.  The Parks and Recreation Department may be reached at 918.684.6302.

Q.     Does Muskogee have a bus station and where is it located?
A.     Muskogee does have a bus station.  Union Bus Depot is located at the Phillips 66 Station at 3950 N. 32nd St.   The phone number is 918.682.1371
