D.J. Thompson, President & CEO
D.J. provides the overall, daily management of all departments of the Chamber and works with the Chamber’s Board of Directors to ensure the Chamber mission is achieved.
D.J. became the Chamber’s President & CEO in June of 2016 after serving four years as the Chief Operations Officer and Foundation Manager for the City of Muskogee Foundation. D.J. is a native Oklahoman, born and raised in Oklahoma City and obtained a Bachelors in Social Studies Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has worked for various nonprofits in Oklahoma for over twenty-two years, including serving as the executive director for the Oklahoma Council on Economic Education, and the Vice President of Community Investment for United Way of Central Oklahoma where she worked for ten years. D.J. has extensive experience teaching the Standards for Excellence – a nationally accepted program that teaches best practices in ethics and accountability for nonprofits, and has also consulted and worked with organizations on implementing outcome based measurements, creating fundraising and marketing plans, and budgeting.
D.J. is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City’s Class XXIV, and of Leadership Muskogee Class XXIII. She is a 2007 recipient of the OKCBusiness Forty Under 40 Award, the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award for the Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce, and has been active in the communities where she has lived her entire adult life. D.J. serves on numerous committees and boards in an advisory role for the Chamber, and is currently a member of the Saint Francis Muskogee Hospital Board of Directors and is a CASA volunteer.
Vice President & Director of Programs
Angela oversees all of the Chamber programs and events, and all non-dues revenue projects, which make up approximately half of the Chamber’s annual operating budget. She is responsible for the development and successful execution of multiple, large, annual events such as our Annual Banquet, Magic Holiday GiveAway, and the Women’s Leadership Conference.
Angela has worked at the Muskogee Chamber of Commerce since 2012 after serving as the Tourism Director for the Chamber of Commerce in Coffeyville, KS for four years. Angela began her career with the Muskogee Chamber as the Program and Sales Director and in 2016 was promoted to Vice President and Director of Programs. Angela has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Metropolitan State College of Denver in Colorado. She is a graduate of Leadership Muskogee and Chamber Management Institute, and currently serves as a Board Member for Kids’ Space Muskogee County Child Advocacy Center.
Ashley Wilbourn, Tourism Director
Ashley Wilbourn joined the Chamber as the Tourism Director in March of 2017. She is responsible for managing the daily operations and execution of the contract held with the City of Muskogee to provide convention and tourism services to the area. In her role, she is responsible for the promotion of Muskogee as a tourist destination, as well as maintaining a consistently positive experience for visitors.
Ashley has nearly a decade of experience in the Oil & Gas industry’s Exploration & Excavation sector with a privately funded company in Dallas, Texas, as well as experience in digital marketing and virtual assistance for small businesses nationwide, the finance industry, and has run a successful small business specializing in health-focused baking and meal consultation and preparation. She is also a published creative writer, with her work featured in seven nationwide and online publications.
Ashley is a native of Muskogee and is passionate about the success of downtown Muskogee and the businesses located there. She currently serves as an Advisory member of the MainStreet Muskogee Board of Directors, and as a member of their Marketing & Communications committee. She is on the Board of Directors for the Muskogee Hotel & Lodging Association, and the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association, and represents the Chamber and Tourism by serving on the Depot District committee, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Induction committee, the G-Fest Steering Committee, and the Katy District committee. Ashley is a member of the Muskogee Chapter of Rotary International, and has been involved with the homeschooling community in Muskogee for four years.
Kevin Igert, Membership Services Manager
Kevin is responsible for developing relationships with businesses and the community to increase and retain Chamber membership, as well as enhance Chamber membership value. He works strategically to develop and implement programs and services designed to meet the needs of businesses and grow commerce in Muskogee.
Kevin was born and raised in the Muskogee area and attended Northeastern State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design with a minor in Fine Art. Kevin has a strong professional sales background, and his experience ranges from the hotel/motel industry to radio and newspaper. Prior to joining the Chamber team as a staff member in February, 2017, he was actively involved in multiple committees and activities on behalf of the Chamber as a volunteer, including serving on the Tourism committee. Kevin was honored with the 2015 Ambassador of the Year award, served as the Chair of the Chamber’s Ambassadors committee in 2014 and 2015, and is a graduate of Leadership Muskogee Class XXI. He serves on numerous boards and committees throughout Muskogee and is an active member of the Muskogee Exchange Club.
Sherry Pilant, Communications Coordinator
Sherry joined the Chamber team in 2012 as the Communications Coordinator. She is the first point of contact for all Chamber visitors and customers and ensures a positive and welcoming atmosphere is provided and maintained. She assists with the organization and coordination of events and meetings, as well as special projects sponsored by the Chamber and Tourism. Her prior experiences include working at Northeastern State University for 15 years as the Assistant to the Dean of the Muskogee Campus, working for Bank of America in various positions for sixteen years. Sherry graduated from Muskogee High School and is a graduate of Indian Capital Technology Center’s Health Science Technology program.
Sherry is a graduate of Leadership Muskogee Class XX and of Chamber Management Institute. She has been involved with dozens of organizations and committees as volunteer during her professional career.
Justin O’Neal, Marketing Coordinator
Justin is responsible for assisting with the implementation and execution of the GMACC and Muskogee Tourism marketing plans. Justin leads strategies for both earned and paid media in print, radio, television and online campaigns, web site design and maintenance, creation of print materials, press releases, all forms of social media, managing the REAL OKIE brand and the REAL OKIE store.
Justin is a Muskogee native, and attended Hilldale High School before studying Mass Communications at Northeastern State University. In 2008 Justin began his career at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame & Museum, as Social Media Coordinator. Since then, Justin has worked in various roles including; Marketing Director at the Muskogee County Council of Youth Services, and Marketing Coordinator at the Muscogee Creek Nation Casino: Muskogee. He has served as District Secretary for the National Exchange Club, and he was also received the 2014 Ambassador of the Year Award for the Muskogee Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his prior work here in Muskogee, Justin utilized his talents in Nashville, TN, working with country music acts Ricky Skaggs, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, as well as Oklahoma’s own, Carrie Underwood and The Swon Brothers.
Amber Crall, Office and Finance Manager
Amber Crall is the Office & Finance Manager for the Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. Amber assumed her role at the Chamber in August 2017. Amber previously worked in the banking industry, with Arvest Bank and Bank of America, starting her career in banking in 2007. Her most recent position with Arvest was as the AVP, Branch Sales Manager for the Downtown Muskogee branch. She was recognized in 2017, as a Sales & Service Award recipient, as one of the top 5 branches in sales, customer service and operations.
Amber was born and raised in Muskogee, graduating from Muskogee High School in 2004, graduating with honors. She was involved in many activities including Honor Choir, Pride of Muskogee Band and high school musical theatre. Amber went on to attend Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
Amber has served the community of Muskogee by serving on the board for Downtown Muskogee, Inc and on the Community Investment Committee for Lake Area United Way. She also graduated from Leadership Muskogee Class XXI.
Amber currently lives in Fort Gibson with her husband, Shawn and their 3 year-old daughter, Jade.
Sharon Sharp, Administrative Assistant
Sharon manages the front desk/reception duties on designated days of work for the Greater Muskogee Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and provides support services to the Chamber and Tourism staff. The person in this position must be knowledgeable of GMACC programs and membership, as well as what is available in the community to both residents and visitors.
Sharon moved to Muskogee in 1976 and went to work for the City of Muskogee where she was employed for almost 32 years; 25 of those years she served as the assistant to the City Manager and Mayor. In August of 2008 Sharon retired from the City , took two days off then came to work at the Chamber on a part-time basis. Sharon is a graduate of McAlester High School and has a Bachelors degree from Oklahoma Baptist University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Women In Safe Home (WISH).
