The center of downtown Muskogee’s cultural activities is The Roxy Theater. The theater opened in 1948 as a movie theater and still holds the ambiance and charm of a post-WWII era movie theater. Beautiful architecture, art deco glass and tile, fully restored original seats and neon signs make the theater as much of a destination as the shows inside. The Roxy holds theater-style live productions, musicals and family style movies.
Down-home, farm friendly dining makes Charlie’s Chicken a family favorite. Best known for their all white meat chicken chunks, this cafeteria-style eatery takes fast food to a higher level. Locals have made Charlie’s the most popular place for a country meal, finished off with home-style fruit cobblers. Though now a chain restaurant, with two locations in Muskogee, the original Charlie’s Chicken is located here.
